- Since the time I joined TBA, I have been working in the Consultancy department as a construction advisor for clients on particular projects
- During the pre-contact phases of the projects, as an assistant architect, I performed the following duties:
- Conducted a comprehensive conditional survey and produced conditional survey reports
- Developed conceptual designs based on client requirements
- Developed architectural working drawings, which enabled engineers (structural and service engineers) to provide their input, and also assisted quantity surveyors in producing blank bills of quantities, as well as engineering estimates
- All these documents were submitted to the clients to assist in the tendering process and procurement of the contractor
- I attended pre-bid meetings to assist the client in elaborating drawings as part of the tendering documents and other project requirements, which were not understood by the bidders; hence, clarifications were needed
- During the post-contract phases of projects, I performed the following duties:
- Attended meetings such as site meetings, management meetings, and technical meetings with both clients and contractors to discuss project progress and changes, and produced minutes and reports for each particular meeting
- Ensured Contractors is complying with regulatory bodies such as OSHA (Occupational Safety and Health Administration) by making sure that the construction site is a safe place for both workers and visitors
- This is achieved by providing safety gears to site workers and visitors, and also by ensuring that the site itself is clean from dangerous objects
- The other regulatory body is the CRB (Contractors Registration Body), as a construction advisor I made sure that the contractor is registering the project to CRB
- Provided technical support to other architects, engineers, and other professionals involved in the project in case required
- Ensured quality control and assurance of site works by making sure that the contractor is using materials that are specified and approved by the consultant (construction advisor), and finally produces quality work with impeccable workmanship
- Conducted periodic site inspections to closely monitor work progress, and prepare and submit monthly project progress reports, so as to update and bring transparency to the client on the actual work progress of the site
- Facilitated effective communication by drafting official letters and correspondences to both contractors and clients in order to ensure clarity in project updates
- Prepared non-monetary certificates, such as certificates of practical completion and certificates of making good defects, at every required stage
