  • November 2021, ongoing, Zanzibar, SADC GMI and Ministry of Water and Energy in Zanzibar, Lead Consultant, Rapid assessment of groundwater potential for Zanzibar (Pemba and Unguja) Lead Consultant Objective: Providing technical leadership in a national exercise commissioned by the Ministry of Water, Energy and Minerals together with the SADC Groundwater Management Institute (GMI) with support from Global Water Partnership (GWP). Tasks: The project had the objective to assess (i) aquifer characteristics of both Unguja and Pemba (ii) groundwater availability, accessibility and recharge zones in Unguja and Pemba Islands (iii) groundwater quality and vulnerable zones in Unguja and Pemba and (iv) impact of climate change on availability of groundwater resources Client/Funding: The Ministry of Water, Energy and Minerals together with the SADC GMI with support from GWP Expert Input: The assignment took at least 6 months to generate necessary data
