  • Responsible for management of stressed accounts within my portfolio, assigned by the Area Head SAG, East Africa and currently Middle East.
  • Responsible for analysis impaired risk assets and ensure adequate provision is maintained as per IFRS 9 requirement.
  • Ensure earlier identification of the account problem and develop proper strategy including restructuring option or any other proper recovery options.
  • Responsible for minimizing the Bank’s risk arising from litigation, environmental claims, regulatory censure, or potential reputational loss regarding the impaired Accounts.
  • To evaluate the credit risk on applications within my portfolio as required and to recommend approval, decline or alternative appropriate courses of action.
  • Track and provide information to the Area Head, SAG. Africa on the cause of losses, encourage the development of improved Credit Skills.

  • Responsible for analysis of all risk assets and impairment analytics.
  • Preparing prudential reports (IFRS 9) as per applicable guidelines/requirements and advice management on the adequacy of provisional amount.
  • Prepare all other credit reports i.e both internal and external such as form 16 reports (BOT report).
  • Attending credit committee as a member and give proper opinion after thorough review of the credit proposal.
  • Perform periodic assessments for the entire credit portfolio in relation to local economy to ensure high quality of the portfolio.
  • Monitoring credit exceptions, arrears and excess drawings on daily basis and preparing recommendations on recovery measures.
  • Communicate to customers via email, formal letter and visiting customers directly on matters of maintaining credit facilities, pointing out account irregularities, if any and restructuring or rescheduling payment terms if required.
  • Identify and notify management accounts irregularities, specifically for breaching the credit limits, expiry of sanctioned terms, and non-compliance of covenants and propose remedial solutions thereof.
  • Updates and corresponds with legal department and recovery agents on any legal litigation, ensure all possible precautionary actions are taken during recovery stage.
  • Oversee all recovery activities including attending public auctions, out of court settlement negotiations.
  • Ensure proper documentation is maintained and all client information is properly recorded in our core bank system.

Accomplishments

  • Through collaborative recovery efforts we were able to improve Loan impairment significantly by 125% in comparison to 2021 and is better than budget by 126% in TZ.
  • I have managed down TZ SAG book i.e CG 13&14 by 39% from January to September 2022. This is on account of major recoveries made during the year.
  • At the International Commercial Bank Tanzania (ICBT) – I chaired special committee for IFRS 9 adaptation where we able to design and develop IFRS 9 model for the bank. The model was reviewed by internal & external auditor, validated by independent reviewer, and approved by Central Bank.
  • At ICBT - I created credit monitoring system which enabled the bank to bring down NPL ratio from 15.56% in 2017 to 9.61% in 2018.
