Volunteer Experience

Kwetu Nyumbani Children's Home, Nairobi, Kenya, Kwetu Children's Home is a home care facility that provides for life-saving care to more than 100 HIV-positive children in Kenya aged between newborns and 23 years of age. The kids live at the home until they are self-reliant. Being in such a space and working with the kids, seeing how happy they were despite facing several challenges at times including being judged in school, made me appreciate life in itself and created in me humility I never thought I could possess. It made me more conscious of my interactions with others, gave me a more optimistic perception of life and also taught me how to be a caregiver and a more approachable individual who's outgoing and easy to reach out to. This was indeed a life-changing experience that left in me the love to volunteer and give back to the society whenever I can.
