The duties of Head of Accounts are similar and these include the following;

• Provide expert financial guidance and advice to the Accounting Officer and the various Heads of Department.
• Working in collaboration with Heads of Departments, prepare budgets with realistic spending plans that are aligned with the entity strategic goals
• Ensure budget control and report monthly on expense variances and providing explanations.
• Handle day-to-day accounting processes to ensure that payments are accurate and timely.
• Prepare accurate reliable financial statements for the entity
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge on professional accounting standards to manage financial recordkeeping
• Mentor and train new and junior officers
• Develop strong professional relationships with external auditors to ensure smooth audit processes and prompt resolution of any issues identified.

• Maintained the back office records for all public debt
• Ensured that all accrued interest on public debt is paid on time
• Ensured that all the principal repayments are made when due so as to avoid penalties for late payments
• Follow up with disbursements on loan and grant as per the agreements' conditions
• Ensure that the loan and grant disbursements are applied to to correct use per financing conditions.
