Summary

I am a public health professional with over 20 years' experience (10 years with UNFPA Tanzania) in HIV/AIDS, Adolescent Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights, and gender and human rights program management both in development and humanitarian contexts. I hold a Medical Degree and a Master of Science in Public Health Degree and I have experience in development program management and leadership, policy advocacy and partnership building, resource mobilization and management, and national capacity development.

I have experience working in multicultural teams providing leadership, guidance, and strategic direction for the development of strategic and innovative approaches to adolescent protection, empowerment, and well-being, and advancing policies and strategies that promote the rights of adolescents.

My work experience has enabled me to develop the following competencies that I strongly believe are an asset for this position: integrity, embracing change, ability to think critically and adapt to changing working contexts, achieving results, working in teams, and building and maintaining relationships.

I have excellent communication skills both in writing and speaking. I am fluent in English and have basic knowledge of the French language.

  • Responsible to provides support to ensure programme quality, efficiency and effectiveness of UNFPA's support to the Government of the United Republic of Tanzania within the context of the United Nations Sustainable Development Cooperation Framework (UNSDCF)
  • My responsibility specifically focuses on UNFPA's thematic area of gender equality and human rights, humanitarian response, building and managing partnerships and resource mobilization and engaging with government ministries, department and agencies to promote UNFPA mandate
  • Coordinating country office resource mobilization efforts - convening quarterly RM meetings, coordinate proposal/concept note development, produce monthly RM updates/reports to ESARO
  • Engaging the relevant government ministries, department and agencies on policy and technical discussions in area of our mandate - representing the deputy and/or country representative as appropriate.
  • Participating in sector coordination platforms e.g. The Joint Health sector review, a nation wide platform that brings together government, development and implementing partners, civil society and academia to review progress of the health sector and propose policy actions.
  • Coordinate UNFPA humanitarian work in Kigoma region where there is a caseload of over 200,000 Congolese and Burundian refugees including engaging with humanitarian actors at national and sub-national level, participating in the government and UN coordination structures.
  • Under the leadership of UNHCR and in collaboration with other Humanitarian actors, I participate in the development of flash appeals, Refugees Response Plans (RRPs) and designing of the Joint Assessment Missions (JAMs) and Multi-Sector Initial Rapid Assessment (MIRA) when appropriate.

  • Coordinated 'Ujana wangu nguvu yangu' project, a four year comprehensive Adolescent sexual and reproductive health and rights project targeting adolescent and young women in rural Tanzania
  • Contributed to the development of the national comprehensive condom programming strategy, National peer educator's manual (menstrual Hygiene management section) and the national HIV prevention operational plan
  • Organized the first national condom meeting that galvanized the discussions around Total Market Approach (TMA) for condom in Tanzania
  • For the past eight years I have led Tanzania resource mobilization team including proposal writing, (over USD 12 Mil mobilized through proposals that I led) including managing CERF funds for humanitarian
  • For the past five years I have led procurement, distribution and monitoring of over 12 tons of humanitarian equipments and supplies (ERH kits, dignity kits, medical equipments) to respond to refugee caseload in Kigoma north western Tanzania
