Policy and Processes

• Support the ongoing development, implementation, and monitoring of safeguarding policies and procedures across the organization.
• Promote a culture where the safety of children and young people is at the heart of all activities.
• Ensure local reporting and response mechanisms are in place, followed, and reflective of Tanzanian legal and cultural contexts.
• Conduct annual country context mapping, including legal frameworks, cultural contexts, and available referral services.
• Work closely with other teams to effectively implement and streamline local safeguarding policies and procedures.
• Build relationships with referral services and develop referral pathways to ensure safe and effective signposting for youth.
• Lead the management of serious safeguarding concerns in-country with support from the Country Director.
• Maintain confidential records of safeguarding concerns and ensure appropriate follow-up is conducted.
• Support teams in conducting annual safeguarding self-assessments and developing work plans to address gaps and reduce risk.
• Review and update the GE Tanzania Safeguarding Policy and risk assessments on an annual basis.

Technical Support on Safeguarding and Youth Participation

• Provide capacity building, inductions, and onboarding to ensure staff and partners have the skills to deliver safeguarding and youth participation.
• Deliver safeguarding training and inductions to in-country partners and consultants to meet organizational requirements.
• Support the global team to develop, review, and update training materials, tools, and resources for policy implementation.
• Lead on meaningful Youth Participation technical support for all programs across Tanzania.
• Review brand content and provide safeguarding support for existing and new products.
• Ensure partners maintain safeguarding policies, robust risk assessments, consent forms, and signed agreements.
• Collaborate with moderators to identify safeguarding concerns on the Tujibebe website and digital platforms.

Programme Design and Implementation

• Integrate safeguarding and meaningful youth participation into the program life cycle and activity design.
• Collaborate with global teams to share experiences and ensure organizational strategy is adhered to.
• Ensure partner safety and engagement through vetting, onboarding, agreements, and risk assessments.
• Complete regular spot checks of partners, work activities, and online spaces.

Safeguarding and Youth Participation Integration
