

Julius Ruwaichi is a seasoned banking executive with over 24 years of experience in leadership, finance, strategy execution, and risk management. He currently serves as the Chief Executive Officer of Selcom Microfinance Bank Tanzania (formerly Access Microfinance Bank Tanzania/AccessBank Tanzania), where he is leading the bank’s transformation following shareholding changes, driving digital innovation, and strengthening strategic growth. Under his leadership, the current bank transitioned from loss-making to profitability, underwent structural realignment, and enhanced operational efficiencies.
After his first career spanning five years with PwC, his banking career has included senior roles in Finance at Standard Chartered Bank, the National Bank of Commerce (NBC), and NCBA Bank (formerly NIC Bank), with a focus on financial governance, corporate strategy, and risk management.
Senior member/Fellow of Association of Chartered Certified Accountant (FCCA), Julius holds an Executive MBA from ESAMI, a BSc in Applied Accounting from Oxford Brookes University, and a BSc in Engineering from the University of Dar es Salaam. He is also a graduate of the CEO Apprenticeship Programme coordinated by Tanzania’s CEOrt and Strathmore University and a member of the Institute of Directors Tanzania.
