  • Responsibilities: I am based in Dar es salaam Tanzania with responsibilities of managing all procurement related activities in Tanzania, Zambia and Namibia within the annual budget up to USD5,000,000.
  • Achievements:
  • Procurement Plan – In collaboration with user departments I managed to prepare a realistic procurement plan for various goods/ equipment and services. I managed to implement it by 90% hence enhance seamless operations.
  • Budget control – I managed to reduce unplanned spending by 75% by ensuring that user department adhere to the procurement plan except for emergence procurement.
  • Cost saving – I negotiated and properly implemented new contracts for various project like civil project, catering services, cleaning and procurement of various goods. For the year 2024 I managed to reduce cost by 20% equivalent to USD500,000.
  • Process Improvement – In 2023 I led the implementation of Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system (SAGE 300) that covered accounting module, Procurement module, Operations (ICD, Transport, and CFS) and Payroll module.
  • Supplier Management – I manage good partnership with number of suppliers that resulted in reducing defects goods by 25% and improving on time delivery of goods.
  • Strategic sourcing – managed various logistics procurement (RFP) process in Tanzania, Zambia, Namibia, China and Europe.
  • Risk Mitigation – through competitive sourcing, inviting many suppliers reduced the single sourcing procurement. Only 3% of all procurement were single sourced. Hence insuring smooth operations.
  • Compliance – I made sure that all Procurement team and user department adhere to the Procurement policy and Zambia Public Procurement Act.
  • Managing end to end Procurement processes of goods, service and works through various procurement methods as per Public Procurement Act. This involved local and international purchases like purchase of Reach stackers, Forklifts, Skid steers, daily consumable items and Construction works.
  • Disposal of various goods/equipment/assets as per Company policy – I properly managed to dispose a Company house located at Masaki Dar es salaam for USD2,000,000 and ensured that all the government taxes were duly paid.
  • Maintains and updated list of pre-qualified suppliers – this simplified the procurement process and hence reduced the procurement cycle.
  • Offers advisory services to user departments for effective and efficient implementation of the procurement plans.
  • Maintain auditable records – I attended to audit queries relating to the procurement and managed to get clean certificate all the time.
  • Secretary to the Procurement Committee of the Company, arranges all Tender Committee meetings and prepare the minutes of the meetings.
  • Team supervision and performance monitoring-leading procurement team of 5 people towards achieving the Company goals through quality works and cost reduction.
  • Facility Management - Managing renovation, repair and cleanness of all Company buildings, service and repair of air conditioners, fuel pumps and weighbridge. 99% of Company buildings were well maintained.

  • Inventory Control- I was responsible for controlling Company stock in order to meet customer demand and ensure smooth and seamless internal operations. Also ensure the accuracy of stock records versus physical stock.
  • Logistics Control- responsible for searching and contracting reliable transporters and making sure the trucks are properly allocated.
  • A Company wholly owned by the Government of Zambia with operating terminals in Dar es salaam Tanzania, Walvis Bay Namibia and Ndola Zambia.
