Dr. Innocent Mbughi is a Public Health Specialist with over twelve years of experience in implementing public health interventions, specifically Voluntary Medical Male Circumcision (VMMC) in Lake Zone Regions, including Kigoma region. I have expertise in Project design, management, technical support, Monitoring, and Evaluation. As a trained medical doctor and trained on various HIV/AIDs related short courses, I have experience in clinical issues and managing patients as well as organizing and supervising the provision of safe and quality VMMC services. I currently serve as THPS VMMC Services Program Manager on the CDC-funded Tanzania AFYA HATUA Project, where I ensure project VMMC services are being provided at high quality and that the safety of clients is at the core of service provision in all facilities. I have collaborated with CDC, MOHCDGEC/NACP; Regional Health Management Teams (RHMTs), and Council Health Management Teams (CHMTs) to coordinate and conduct VMMC mobile outreach, supportive supervision, training, mentorship, and coaching to ensure MOHCDGEC and PEPFAR VMMC standards are consistently adhered. I have also worked closely with the Ministry of Health (MOH) and the President’s Office, Regional Administration and Local Government (PORALG), and provided technical support on introducing and scaling device circumcision in Tanzania. And as an active member, periodically attending the National VMMC TWG to review VMMC implantation status in the country and developing various guidance on VMMC, reviewing, updating, and passing for approval of training curriculum, manuals, SOPs, M&E, and quality assessment tools. Dr. Innocent has also been working closely with the Tanzania/USAID Global Health Supply Chain Program on quantifying and forecasting commodities and anesthetic agents for the VMMC program in Tanzania.
