  • Responsible for planning, management, coordinating and monitoring Religions for Peace’s New Partnership Initiative (NPI), a PEPFAR funded project, in Tanzania
  • The project is implemented in collaboration with FBOs and local government in 10 districts in Tanzania
  • Successfully introduced the project in all the project site
  • Built good working relationship between the FBOs, local government and the volunteers in the community
  • Assisted 1100 OVC in ten districts
  • Established more than 34 income generating groups benefiting more than 200 PLHAs in a project that integrates HIV/AIDS interventions with microfinance scheme
  • Trained and supervised more than 400 youth peer educators who provided HIV prevention education for in school and out of school youths in ten districts of Tanzania
  • Built the capacity of FBO and Religions for Peace Tanzania member organizations, particularly Women of Faith Networks to be able to carry out HIV/AIDS interventions
  • Managing the project with 7 staffs and over 500 volunteers
  • The project has managed to achieve all the goals set for year one and two despite late take off

  • Facilitated expansion of Home based Care projects (HBC) from 3 districts in 1 region to 12 districts in 3 regions within two years

  • Responsible for coordination of HBC partners at the region and district level, and Implementing Partners (IPs) to develop and implement program and district-level performance monitoring plans, including identification of performance indicators; performance reporting systems; field-based technical assistance and monitoring of M&E system; and reporting
  • Played a major role in handing over a HBC supervision role and report compilation to District Home Based Care Coordinators and payment of Community Home Based Care Providers through the DMOs office
  • Oversaw the preparation of program reviews, reports (monthly, quarterly and annual), and other M&E-related documents for review and approval by Program Manager and Country Representative before their submission to NACP/MOH and CDC
  • Took part in midterm HBC program review and conducted end of project review for VICOBA project
  • Facilitated the establishment of Pathfinder’s Web Based Data management system for district under supervision

District Medical Officer Tarime District Council

  • Oversaw and managed curative, preventive and promotive health activities and health staff welfare in the district
  • Managed to supervise two hospitals, one government and one FBO, 8 health centers and over 30 dispensaries with total work force of over 400 employees
  • Successfully conducted national immunization campaigns for measles and vitamin A with over 95% coverage
  • His efforts helped to control the measles outbreaks that used to occur frequently in the district
  • Increased bed capacity of the district hospital from 160 beds to 220, expanded the capacity of operating theater room to two; facilitated the establishment 7 new dispensaries, expansion and upgrading of two dispensaries into rural health centers and one health center into a hospital
  • Coordinated training and conducted continuing medical education (CMEs) for health professional and conduct various researches at the district
  • Represented of Ministry of Health at the district level and played a role of Head of District Health Department
  • Implemented health policies and in collaboration with District Health Management team conducted supportive supervision to health facilities and staff
  • Treated patients and conducted on the job training to subordinates and junior staff
  • Was responsible for planning, management, coordinating and monitoring of comprehensive council health plans
  • Was responsible also for resource mobilization for health interventions by preparing Comprehensive Council Health Plans and quarterly reports on time
  • The district received funds on time throughout the years; wrote proposal to Japanese Food Aids Counterpart Funds through which we managed to raise Tshs 75m for rehabilitation of district hospital, and to Pathfinder International which rehabilitated/established Youth centers in 7 sites at Tshs 35m
  • Represented health department at all council meetings and advised the District Executive Director on all issues related to health
  • He received letter of recognition for good performance from District Council for two consecutive years 2004 and 2005
  • Linked the government with NGO and other stakeholders providing health services in the district
