  • Innovated FRONT DESK INNITIATIVE (FDI) following a slow pace at Tanga Regional Referral Hospital that helped improve HIV Viral Load coverage from 75% to 93% within a month. The innovation was scaled up to other facilities which improve the current overall HIV Viral Load coverage (98%) as well as other key indicators.
  • I actively participated in the development of 6 multi month ARV dispensing Road Map for Zanzibar Integrated HIV, Hepatitis, TB and Leprosy Program (ZIHTLP) that lead to reaching >95% of stable eligible clients on ARV to be given 6 months of dispensed drugs.
  • Persuaded and inspired the amendment of Zanzibar HIV guideline on establishment of Dolutegravir (DTG) based therapy and use of Tenofovir, Lamivudine and Dolutegravir (TLD) drug as first line ART regimen as well as use of Mother Child Cohort to improve mother and child follow up. As a result, the DTG based therapy in Zanzibar is currently at >95% within 6 months from none.
  • Community led outreach programs has equipped me with strong technical and programmatic knowledge and experience in linking prevention activities at community setting such as clients testing and vaccination to treatment adherence and retention in care for different groups for example Key and Vulnerable Populations (KVP), PMTCT, Adolescents, Men etc.

  • Active review financial programmatic budgets if they align with donors expectations (Country Operational Plan). Meanwhile, worked on NOFO budgeting, finetuning and finalization.

Accomplishments

1. I managed to convince Zanzibar Integrated HIV Hepatitis TB Leprosy Program (ZIHHTLP) officials to adapt new Dolutegravir based therapy as first line for HIV treatment as well as 6Multi Month Dispensing ART dispensing to stable clients and help improve the uptake from 0% to 98% within 6 months.

2. Lead team well into technical performances as Senior technical advisor HIV program resulting in additional of 2 regions Simiyu and Mara with additional of funds from donor from $15 million to $24 million per year in two successful years

3. After lagging behind in FY19 on HIV Viral Load Coverage at Tanga Regional Referral Hospital; I Innovated Front Desk Initiative (FDI) modal that was key to success changing results from 75% to 93% within a month. FDI was scaled up to all sites and adopted by other HIV Implementing Partners.

4. Leading a team to successful winning a HIV funding proposal NOFO (Notice of Funding Opportunities) from CDC for another 5 years Afta Thabiti HIV Project covering Zanzibar, Simiyu and Mara regions.

5. Wrote a winning proposal for COVID-19 support “Supporting Africa CDC’s COVID-19 Vaccination Initiative in Africa to the David & Lucile Packard Foundation,” $900,000

6. Successfully managed to publish manuscript titled, Determinants of Virologic Failure among HIV adults on ARV attending health care facilities. A retrospective study in Tanga region, Tanzania and co-authors 3 others.
