Primary duties include providing technical expertise in TB/HIV programs and services, while extending leadership to broader HIV Care and Treatment, AHD/NCD integration, PMTCT/EID/Pediatric ART, and RMNCH initiatives.
Offer technical leadership and oversight of TB/TB/HIV-related interventions, alongside AHD screening/treatment, EAC cascades, viral load monitoring, hypertension integration, immunization, and RMNCH services in line with project work plans and national guidelines.
This encompasses keeping abreast of key advances in TB/HIV, AHD, NCD, and MCH; translating national/global priorities into practice; and providing substantive technical direction/assistance to MDH staff, regional/district stakeholders, and local government authorities.
The District Program Lead (DPL) heads ICAP programs and services at the respective council under the guidance of the Field Implementation Manager. S/he oversees all ICAP staff supporting the council level and provides technical leadership and oversight of all ICAP-supported programs and services including leading implementation, M&E and reporting of crucial program priorities including monitoring of activities under district level sub/service agreements – in collaboration with the Council Health Management Team (CHMT). The DPL is also responsible for managing communication and collaborations with the local government authorities and other key stakeholders.
1. Conducted Research on title:
“Prevalence of TB among Diabetes Mellitus patients and Associated risk
factors in Kagera Region "which the results were significant and a major
turnaround on spearheading Active TB case findings in the Kagera region.
(Currently the manuscript is under review for publication)
2. Participated twice in Tanzania Health Summit(THS) 2022 and 2023
representing MDH in Abstract presentations in 2 major initiatives in the Kagera
region.

3. Participated in a workshop with MoH team on reviewing guideline of TB
infection prevention(Rolling out of new TPT regime 3HR/3HP )
4.Improved Kagera TPT coverage from 84% to 89% across quarters much more
significant to the
progressed to 99% by end of Dce 2023
5.Improved TPT completion among PLHIV across quarters from 67% 2021-
95% by end of 2023.
6.Improved regional TB presumptive rate among PLHIV from the regular 1% to
3% and
consistency improved to recommended 5% with significant improved TBHIV
case notification to 10%
7 .Simultaneously improved TB presumptive rate leading to improved clients on
TB
treatment from 53 clients by 2021 to 160 TB identification by end of Dec 2023
INITIATIVES
1. Screen FOR ALL initiative (Karagwe DC) management to improve screening
rate and
TB presumptive rate from 1% to 7% within only one quarter(Q2FY2)
-Involved the use of TB expert clients in the effective screening of all clients
Attending
CTC, assisting in sample collection and results follow-up.
2. Initiated scaling up of TB Pediatric Center of Excellence (COE sites to
Nkwenda HC in Kyerwa DC which has been the
major contributor of about 50% of all 12 COE sites. improving pediatric
notification in a region to above recommended target of 15%.
-Involved in training of HCP on gastric lavage procedure and use of score chart.
3. Innovated the use of sharing gene expert results via WhatsApp groups which
led to
timely gene expert results in documentation and utilization of 86% by 2021 to
98% by end of Dec 2023.

cases notification from 35% to 89% by end of Dec
