Deogratias Damas Ngoma

Summary

Dr. Ngoma is a Tanzanian medical doctor, and public health specialist with two decades of experience managing and leading complex public health interventions in resource limited settings. His program areas of focus include neglected tropical diseases (NTDs), eye health including elimination of needless blindness, WASH, MCH, HRH, NCDs, HIV/AIDS, and nutrition. Dr. Ngoma holds a MBChB (MD) from MUST -Uganda, MPH Methodology from ULB -Belgium, B.A. (Bible and Theology) from the Global University USA, and a Diploma in Project Planning & Management from Cambridge International College-UK. Dr. Ngoma has worked closely with MOH, MOE, INGOs, donors (including USAID, DFID, IZUMI Foundation, CIFF, etc.), and other development partners in the Africa region. Dr. Ngoma has held strategic positions including Country Director for Helen Keller International, Tanzania Country Lead Crown Agents- ASCEND and ARISE projects, Country Director -Tanzania Seed Global Health, Country Manager Touch Foundation, Director of NTD programmes with IMA World health, International UNV, Care and Treatment Adviser at Malawi’s MoH HIV unit. Dr. Ngoma is well connected within the global health space, both within Africa and internationally; over the years, has gained respect from key health sector stakeholders, high profile government officials, INGOs, and the private sector. In his 20 years’ experience leading and managing complex health programs, Dr Ngoma has demonstrated excellence in working and leading teams composed of people from diverse cultures and professional backgrounds. He maintains clean track record of managing donor funds with $10 Million annual budgets. His passion is to see all people free from preventable suffering the world over.
