Summary
I am a Senior Dental Specialist at the Muhimbili National Hospital with experience of 13 years in restorative dentistry. I have been heading the Dentistry Department Section since 2020, and prior to my current post I held the position of Head of Restorative Dentistry firm for 3 years. This firm is one of three firms which forms the Dentistry Department Section. The Dentistry Department Section has a total of 26 Dental Specialists in Oral & Maxillofacial surgery, Restorative Dentistry, Pediatric Dentistry, Orthodontics and Prosthodontics. Other cadres include 3 dental laboratory technologists and 10 nurse officers and assistant nurses allocated to the department. The department also supervises 20-25 intern doctors each year. On average, the department attends 13,000 patients per year. I am serving as an Honorary Lecturer at Muhimbili University of Health and Allied Sciences. Since 2018. Muhimbili University of Health and Allied Sciences is one of the Medical Universities under the Tanzania Commission of Universities and is reputable worldwide. The university trains both undergraduate and post-graduate students. I was a President of the Tanzania Dental Association (TDA), a post which I shall held for three years until November 2023. I also served as President Elect of the association for three years from 2017 to 2020. Prior to that, I served as a member of the Management Committee from 2004 - 2010, and from 2015 to date. TDA is a professional organization which serves all dental professionals in Tanzania. I have also been serving as a member of the Continuing Professional Development (CPD) committee of the Medical Council of Tanganyika (MCT) from February 2020 up to date. MCT is a regulatory board which regulates all Medical, Dental and Allied Health professionals according to the Medical, Dental and Allied Health Professionals bill of 2017. The Council has three committees; the CPD committee, the Examination Committee and the Enquiry Committee. Other positions I am serving include member of Board of Trustees of Tanzania Medical, Dentists, and Pharmaceutical Workers Union (TMDPWU), Member of Board of Provisional Charitable Foundation, Member of IRB of Muhimbili National Hospital and One of Directors of JEK Tanzanite Premier Healthcare Ltd which is a limited company which owns a polyclinic called JEK Polyclinic in Tanzania.
