TO WHOM IT MAY CONCERN:
We the undersigned have worked with ANDE JOHN MWASONGWE since October 2006, both in the UK and in Tanzania, and wish to provide a reference for his skills as a filmmaker, a cameraman and as a talented and reliable film editor fully qualified on the Final Cut Pro (Mac) system.
Ande John has worked on a series of film productions for the worldwide organization the White Ribbon Alliance, based in London and Washington, DC since 2005 (whiteribbonalliance.org). In that time, he has been a filmmaker, a stills photographer, a camera operator and - most importantly - a trusted editor. Andes' work can be seen in the internationally screened film ‘Play Your Part', which has been used for advocacy in Europe, the USA and in Japan.
On behalf of the White Ribbon Alliance, Ande John edited a special Kiswahili version of the film - Play Your Part: Next Level (running time 29 minutes) - which was aired by TBC (Tanzania) in June 2008 and by ITV (Tanzania) in July 2008. Part of the film includes President Kikwete's address to the White Ribbon Alliance members gathered in Dar es Salaam in April 2008. As a result of his involvement with the White Ribbon Alliance, Ande John was invited to work in the UK in February to November of 2008. During this time, Ande John
I am good at working under pressure, while accomplishing strong tasks within a thin line of time and deadlines. This experience was acquired in a needy line of newsroom and live shows directing where a keen attention and focus is required when running.
I am skilled on planning my work independently. I am reasonable and sensitive to cultural differences due to working with international crews from several countries like; Uganda, Kenya, Rwanda, Burundi, Zambia, South Africa and UK. While in Bridgewater in the United Kingdoms, I volunteered at the Engine room a community film house. I volunteered to Glastonbury Festivals preparations, filming behind the scenes, assistant camera and practical studies with CNN. I have traveled around Tanzanian regions both mainland and the Islands of Pemba and Unguja. I have good skills of leadership where I am good at motivating and make a team accomplish a task smoothly. With time, I have learned on the hands-on demonstrations than only directives.
