Abdulfatah Khamis is a seasoned psychologist with over six years of diverse experience spanning clinical practice, academic institutions, and non-governmental organizations. Holding a Master’s degree in Counseling Psychology from the University of Iringa, he has provided comprehensive mental health support to over 700 clients and mentored more than 500 students in clinical and academic settings.
In his role at the Ministry of Health, Zanzibar, Abdulfatah has spearheaded initiatives that integrate mental health services into public healthcare systems and address stigmas associated with mental health. Notably, he established and led a center supporting over 35,000 survivors of abuse, providing psychosocial, medical, and social interventions.
A published researcher, Abdulfatah has contributed to understanding critical topics such as social anxiety and healthcare access. His academic achievements include securing the prestigious Turkish Government Scholarship and completing the YALI East Africa Leadership Program. Passionate about bridging the gap between clinical practice and research, he aspires to advance innovative, evidence-based solutions to tackle national and global mental health challenges.
