CHILD PROTECTION ASSISTANT

  • Participated in the joint rapid assessment to identify child protection needs during the Hanang Flood emergency in Tanzania
  • Collaborated with social welfare officers during the Marburg outbreak in Kagera, Tanzania, to provide mental health and psychosocial support to survivors and their families through home visits
  • Conduct field visits to six UNICEF-supported regions to assess the progress and provide technical support resulting in successful and timely implementation of child protection activities
  • Identified a user-friendly digital system to collect data to provide timely and accurate data for the child protection programs such as the parenting programme, Furaha Teens
  • Provide technical support on report writing and budgeting to implementing partners including the local and regional government officials and NGOs resulting in over 50% increase in the accuracy of reports and budget overruns
  • Monitor and manage data for child protection interventions, by reviewing and verifying quarterly data from 44 local government authorities to ensure accuracy
  • Provide analysis reports for the parenting program and other prevention activities within the child protection section
  • Review the liquidation reports from the local government authorities and other partners to ensure that the information and data provided are clear and accurate as per the implemented activities
  • Successfully captured and documented human interest stories to raise awareness about child protection issues, three of these stories have been published on the UNICEF Tanzania website
